Have you heard the song β€œScared of Lonely” by BeyoncΓ©? If you haven’t, listen to it, it’s a beautiful song. After I heard it immediately, I told myself, β€œThis is my theme song” because I had a fear of being alone for years. Mind you, I’m only 27 years old, but when I first heard it, I was 17 and already had a fear of loneliness.

This fear of loneliness steamed from seeing my single divorced mother suffering from depression and alcoholism, and I was afraid of ending up just like her. But once I surrendered my worries and fears to God, he removed the fear of loneliness. This took years, though, it didn’t happen overnight.

I was in a dark place a few years ago after my mom passed away, and I ended a long-term relationship that I thought would last forever, and I needed a transformation in my life. I was trying to cope with the darkness in unhealthy ways and was tired of feeling depressed. I started attending church regularly and reading The Bible daily.

One day as I was reading The Bible, there was a verse that stood out to me, it was, Isaiah 41 verse 10 (NIV), β€œSo do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” It was an instant reminder that I am not alone, that God would be with me always. I would meditate on this verse and would pray to God to remove the fear of loneliness, but I didn’t feel a breakthrough until I fully surrendered all my fears.

Seeking God, meditating on his word, and praying were what genuinely helped me surrender all my fears and eventually remove the fear of loneliness. I learned that God brings peace to your soul and comfort, knowing that He is with you no matter what you are facing.

Are there any fears that you are holding on to that you can release to God? He can help you overcome them and remove those fears from your heart. All you have to do is trust him. He promises good things to those who place their trust in him. Like we are told in 2 Samuel 7 verse 28 (NIV), β€œSovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant.” If he removed my deep fear of loneliness, he can eliminate the fears in your heart as well. Love, Heidy!

Thank you Heidy for sharing your grace-filled, beautiful heartwarming, story! Friends, FEAR is really a very big liar — a broken record that repeatedly plays back reasons and excuses and holds us back from the plans God has for us. One of the best piece of advice I can offer — backed up by the WORD. — “Trust in HIM at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him, for God is our refuge.” Selah. — Psalm 62: 8. Amen! God bless.πŸ’•

  1. This is so true, the fear of loneliness or fear in general has made people mere shadows of themselves. But we must remember that God’s perfect love drives our fear and as long as our Redeemer lives, fear will never be a part of us β€οΈπŸ¦‹

  2. Nothing is better than a personal testimony of what God can do in a life! What’s amazing is His love and forgiving grace are available to everyoneβ€”but exactly in the way they need.

    Thank you for sharing.

  3. Indeed, there’s nothing God cannot deliver us from if we’d only lay out burdens on Jesus and trust in him. A couple of months ago he delivered me from anxiety and my life has been rejuvenated in him.
    Lovely post 😊

  5. Lonely is something that I am still trying to get over with, having completed my first degree my expectations this year was rockety. Then the pandemic hit hard and now every earthly source of comfort is in soft and not tangible. I found solace and great joy studying the word of God. It gave me something to meditate on and live a care free life knowing God is in control. Thanks Heidy, loneliness is real, but God is real and everlasting.

  6. Amen, great testimony. Thanks for sharing.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.Β β€”Joshua 1:9
Jesus made it very clear that trusting Him and following Him by faith and obedience is not easy. To follow Him means denying ourselves and taking up a cross (Matthew 16:24). It means being hated by the world (John 15:18-19), enduring persecutions and sufferings (Mark 10:30), and losing our lives (Matthew 16:25). In Ephesians 6, the apostle Paul suggests that the life of faith is a battle and the weapon we have been given for that battle is a sword, which Paul tells us is theΒ Word of God. Joshua 1:9 begins Set 3 of the Fighter Verses collection of Bible verses chosen especially because they are helpful in the fight of faith. Having these verses memorized is a way to keep the β€œsword” close at hand for use on a moment’s notice.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

God Bless You Highly and Richly. πŸ™β€πŸ™β€πŸ€—πŸ˜‡

  7. Thank you Heidy, for your thoughtful blog article, and it’s tie-in with scripture. Fear is one of the biggest obstacles we all face, and your article was encouraging and rejuvenating during this terribly trying time. πŸ˜‰ πŸ™
